My due date was December 3, 2005 with my first child and I was diagnosed with an IU at 23 weeks gestation.  I had been taking walks with a friend in the evenings, and had been experiencing pains and tightening around my uterus. Since it was my first pregnancy, I thought it was normal. A few days later I ended up in the hospital for preterm contractions. I was given terbutaline to stop the contractions and put on modified bedrest. I was in the hospital a total of nine times before I delivered my son. Each time I was contracting heavily due to my IU. I ended up having my son early at 36w2d when my water broke at home. I am pregnant again, and already experiencing the heavy IU cramping MUCH earlier.
